Mercado Delta is a unique, multi-purpose, outdoor, open-air public and farmers market where entrepreneurs, farmers, artisans, and craftsman can sell their goods, arts and crafts, and services.  Fashioned after Spanish-style marketplace surrounding a central Plaza, Mercado Delta will be the premier central location for economic and tourist activity in the Delta Region.  Construction of the Mercado Delta has begun. The Mercado Delta is scheduled to open in Fall 2008.

Commissioner Sylvia Handy delivered a check to the Delta Region Revitalization Corporation (DRRC) Board of Directors for the infrastructure of the upcoming Mercado Delta in the amount of $318,173.75. The funds are being used as a local match for the federal EDA grant awarded to DRRC for the Mercado Delta project.
