On March 4, 2011 The Texas Rural Communities Corporation (TRC) awarded a grant of $5,000.00 to the Delta Region Revitalization Corporation (Mercado Delta) which is located in Edcouch, Texas. The Texas Rural Communities Corporation is a non-profit organization serving rural Texas communities, individuals, groups and support organizations through rural economic development loans, educational loans, and grant programs. The Texas Rural Communities Corporation received over 40 innovative grant applications for consideration, and the DRRC was one of the six that were awarded a grant. In total $33,900.00 were awarded statewide. In addition to the DRRC grant, other grants were awarded for a Child Nutrition program at a west Texas food bank, an arts academy, a swim camp, and an evening education tutoring center.

Mercado Delta is a unique, multi-purpose, outdoor, open-air public and farmers market where entrepreneurs, farmers, artisans, and craftsman can sell their goods, arts and crafts, and services. Fashioned after Spanish-style marketplace surrounding a central Plaza, Mercado Delta will be the premier central location for economic and tourist activity in the Delta Region.
